Dear Mom

Dear Mom,

Thank you so much for being an incredible mom. I appreciate everything that you have done for me in my life. I know that I’ve told you that many times before that I appreciate all that you do on so many occasions but it wasn’t until recently that my appreciation reached a whole new perspective. Now as I am a mom of two, I have never understood you until this moment in my life.
Now, I know why you made the choices that you did. Mostly all of those choices were to teach us kids lessons that would transpire later in our lives. And for me, I’m certainly seeing those important lessons unfold and as an aid as I am continually figuring out motherhood.

You taught us that time is precious and something that you cannot get back. You chose to work midnight shifts for over 20 years so that you could be home with us during the day while dad worked. You sacrificed your sleep so that you could be with us as much as you could because you knew we’d grow faster than you like us too.

You taught us that your children are your world and deserve the world. Anything that you did was centered around us. You did it for us and wanted to give us all that you could even if in difficult times. You really didn’t treat yourself to anything such as new clothes because you chose to treat us kids instead. You were not able to finish college when we were little because life happened. From this, you encouraged us to go to college to get a degree so that we had no regrets. You wanted us to have an opportunity and do better than you. You wanted us to do our best and be our best. You still do to this day. You are our biggest motivator. You are our biggest fan cheering us on as we navigate life.

You taught us that a mother’s love is unconditional. No matter the good, the bad and the ugly that we may have put you through. I now know why when I say “I love you” and you always respond, “I love you more.” I only know this because that’s exactly how I feel about my girls. I will love them more than anything. I will love them more than they love me. A mom will love her kids more no matter what. That’s it. Period.

Again, thank you for teaching these lessons. I hope to be the best mom that I can be and instill these lessons in my own way on my journey through motherhood. I know that I am a great mom because you taught me and continually encourage me to be my best. I have such a great role model to guide me. You inspire me to be the best mom that I can be the my girls.

Even though you love me more, I love you so much mom.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Love,

Bethany 🙂
